I absolutely love this! I finished a book recently, "Strange Practice" by Vivian Shaw, that sees a cult of serial killers and monster murderers worshipping an old train transformer as the voice of God. This reminded me of that book.
That's the one! Vampires, demons, etc all so far mostly devoid of romance but full of science and excellent characters. I am awaiting my library to get the next book.
